Good morning,
Governor Ned Lamont announced that beginning on January 1, 2026, Connecticut's minimum wage will increase from the current rate of $16.35 per hour to $16.94 per hour.
The hourly rate for any student whose active payroll record is not at the minimum of the new pay class will be systematically increased in CORE-CT. No action is required by departments.
We encourage employers to review the hourly rates of those students whose rates will not be automatically increased to identify any inequities. Any manual increases may be processed in CORE-CT using the Student Payroll Data/Pay Change template (UC_TBH_DC_STUD_DAT.)

Good morning,

Just a reminder that the minimum hourly wage in Connecticut will increase to $15.00 per hour on June 1st. The hourly rate for any student whose active payroll record is not at the minimum of the new pay class will be systematically increased in CORE-CT.

We encourage employers to review the hourly rates of those student employees whose rates will not be automatically increased to identify any inequities and ensure the hourly rates are appropriate for their students' job code and level. Any manual increases may be processed using the Student Payroll Data/Pay Change template (UC_TBH_DC_STUD_DAT) in CORE-CT.

Off-campus students are required to be tested prior to re-entry to campus. In 2019, The Governor signed legislation that will gradually increase the minimum hourly wage in Connecticut to $15.00 over the next several years. The Student Labor/Work-Study Pay Scales have been adjusted to coincide with that change. The next increase is scheduled for September 1st. The hourly rate for any student whose active payroll authorization is not at the minimum of the new pay class will be systematically increased. We encourage employers to review the hourly rates of those student employees whose rates will not be automatically increased to identify any inequities and manually process increases to their pay rates using

As you know, the decision to continue online instruction has been made through the summer terms. Given this, we are extending our guidance for remote work arrangements through the entirety of the summer sessions. We do not anticipate that we will reach suitable conditions for our student employees to return to in person job assignments through this time.

Connecticut’s Minimum Wage will increase to $11.00 per hour on October 1st. The Student Labor/Work-Study
Pay Scale that was established to coincide with the increase has been slightly adjusted. A copy of the updated pay scale
is attached. The hourly rate for any student whose active payroll authorization is not at the minimum of the new pay class will be systematically increased.

Just a reminder that the last day to earn work-study for this academic year is May 4th. This is also the last day that May Grads may work on the student payroll.

Summer work-study begins on May 11, 2018 and ends on August 23, 2018.

We will be sending out a notification when Work-Study awards for the 2018-2019 academic year will be available in CORE-CT--stay tuned! Typically this is early to mid-August, as we must first reconcile and close out the 2018 aid year.

Since the University transitioned to Core-CT last September, Student Employment continued to accept pre-employment paperwork in order to assist departments with processing the high volume of student hires.

Beginning Wednesday, February 1st, Student Employment will no longer be accepting nor assisting with pre-employment paperwork, which includes Form I-9s, Direct Deposit and W4s. It is the responsibility of the hiring department to fill out these forms, including reviewing and verifying students’ identification for the Form I-9. Therefore, any student who comes to Student Employment for the purpose of completing a
