Please save the date for our annual UConn ECE Italian Immersion Day and Quiz Bowl scheduled for October 30, 2026. We are excited to invite you and your UConn ECE Students to participate in this event on the UConn Storrs Campus from approximately 8:30am-1:00pm.
As this student event is early in the academic year, we hope you can add it to your calendars now and we will send more details regarding the event in the beginning of the school year.

This is just a reminder that the annual ECE Italian professional development conference is scheduled to be held on Friday, April 24th, 2026, and there are still several slots available for instructors to register to attend! In order to maintain up-to-date certification with Early College Experience, you are required to attend at least one ECE professional development workshop every other academic year. In allegato troverete informazioni e le regole aggiornate per la paretecipazione degli studenti. Notate bene una recente aggiunta alle regole che afferma: "Students may not use AI to create artwork, writing or music. Any pieces submitted with AI generated images (even as part of a collage of images) will be automatically disqualified." Lo scopo del concorso è l'impegno creativo e originale da parte dei nostri studenti. Vi ringrazio per l'aiuto nel sostenimento di questo obiettivo.
Cari insegnanti ECE, Saluti da UConn dove la settimana scorsa, il 23 ottobre, abbiamo svolto il nostro quarto ECE Italian Immersion Day & Quiz Bowl! Estendiamo le nostre congratulazioni alle squadre che quest’anno hanno conquistato i trofei: terzo posto 🥉 Newington High School, secondo posto 🥈 Bristol Central High School e primo posto 🥇 Holy Cross High School. Un applauso anche al MVP del 2025, Luis Hysenllari 🏆 di Plainville High School. Luis è un vero fenomeno — ha vinto il MVP anche l’anno scorso. Bravo, Luis!

Grazie a tutti gli studenti che hanno partecipato al secondo concorso multimediale di ECE Italiano, "Il linguaggio della natura" e ai bravissimi insegnanti che gli hanno dato una spinta. Quest'anno abbiamo ricevuto quasi trenta consegne! I ragazzi della prima B (9th grade) dell'Istituto Agrario di Firenze si sono impegnati con entusiasmo e rigore a valutare le opere e classificare i premiati. Ringrazio loro per un lavoro ben fatto.

UConn Early College Experience and the faculty from Italian invite you to participate in a professional development workshop on April 4, 2025, at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, CT. Workshop attendance is required once every other year to maintain certification with UConn Early College Experience. This will be the only Italian workshop offered during the 2024-2025 academic year:

Dear ECE teachers, To say the least, this semester was challenging for languages (LCL) at UConn, including Italian (ILCS). With threats of budget cuts and program closures and the administration’s obfuscation of its goals and processes, we spent plenty of time deliberating as a department and drafting documents to defend the value of our program to the university and the state. It was inspiring to be a part of this effort. Following Timothy Snyder's first lesson, LCL was on the leading edge of refusing the proposals for consolidation and preemptive cuts.
