Hi all, There was a request for the slides for Mobility Justice, a topic of a workshop we did several years ago now, but not everyone could attend. This slideshow is a bit text-heavy, but it contains the main thrust of the idea as it pertains to immigration. If you no longer have the scans of the Intro and 5th chapter of Mimi Sheller's book Mobility Justice, I am happy to email that to anyone who wants it. Thanks again for your engaged and thoughtful participation last Thursday for those who could make it, and in particular, a special thanks

These are Dr Nestor Quiroa's presentation materials for his lecture and workshop on Protest Music in Latin America. For those of you who can make it, I also printed out copies of the songs.
For those of you who can't, we will miss you. Hopefully you can use the e-book together with these materials and your own expertise to get some use out of the lessons within.
Hi all, I am very excited for Thursday! Good news: the book our workshop is based on is now available in the library as an E-book, so you can download it whenever you want. I know you probably don't have time before Thurs, but you can at least get a look at it by going to lib.uconn.edu and then typing in Nestor Quiroa as the author. The title "Protest Music in Latin America" is then the second selection you will see. You can sign in and download from there!
Good Morning ECE Latino & Latin American Studies instructors,
UConn Early College Experience and the Faculty from LLAS invite you to participate in this year’s professional development workshop! Workshop participation is required once every other year to maintain certification with UConn Early College Experience. This is currently the only scheduled UConn ECE LLAS workshop for the 2025-26 school year.
I am trying to nail down a date for our workshop - please let me know if either Thurs May 21 or Thurs May 28 would work for you for a day-long workshop at Hartford campus; and if not, what date(s) would work for you. Thanks
ALSO, ideas about what you would like to focus on for this workshop? Would any of you like to share any lessons you have developed? You know how much more you learn from each other than from guest speakers.
Me again. Connie let me know the link didn't work. Here are the docs attached. I hope your systems can accept this many KBs.

Rodolfo has put together a set of PDFs of primary documents for discussion tomorrow. Click on the one drive link below to access - hopefully your UConn account will let you access it - if not I can send them by email to you directly.
Also, if you cannot make it tomorrow because your school would not let you attend, you can still join us virtually if you can find things for your students to do, on my webex: https://uconn-cmr.webex.com/meet/acg10006<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fuconn-cmr.webex.com%2Fmeet%2Facg10006&data=05%7C02%7Cece_latinamericanstudies-l%40listserv.uconn.edu%7Cce469470731e41f0a7f608dd94043ccc%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C638829468098783414%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=gwh9wHtwHc0yL0x5AZ0VF8jvu53aCT1LlFqqcELVkCw%3D&reserved=0> You can jump in anywhere in the day, but it would be useful to text me to
I am very much looking forward to seeing you on Friday! I wanted to give you a heads up about a few topics of discussion. First of all, Dr Rodolfo Fernandez will be back with us to discuss how we might think about lessons that Latin America has for the U.S. current sociopolitical situation. Some of you may not be comfortable talking about politics of the U.S. openly in class because of the current political environment, but that doesn't mean it isn't important to teach students how to recognize authoritarianism and how topics related to it have played
UConn Early College Experience and the faculty from Latino and Latin American Studies invite you to participate in a professional development workshop on May 16, 2025, on the UConn Hartford Campus in the Hartford Times Building, room 216. Workshop attendance is required once every other year to maintain certification with UConn Early College Experience. This will be the only LLAS workshop offered during the 2024-2025 academic year:
Good Morning ECE Latino & Latin American Studies Instructors,
Happy February!
I know the spring might feel like a long way away, but I wanted to bring to your attention the date for this year's professional development workshop. As a reminder, in order to maintain your ECE certification, attendance is required at an ECE professional development workshop once every other year.
This is a free one-day conference at Yale on Saturday. May 2 that includes an afternoon session for high school teachers. In case you or anyone you know is interested!
Anne

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. We will do the 21st, because 2 of you cannot do the 28th because of exams. Please put it in your calendars/request the day to be together at Hartford's UConn campus, and we will follow up with more details. Looking forward to seeing you Anne
